Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related.
• 2–3 years of process engineering experience; surface treatment or manufacturing is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of chemical processes, reactions and materials handling.
• Proficiency with process simulation tools and CAD software.
• HSE awareness and safety compliance.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise Metal Suface Treatment processes and workflows to enhance productivity and reduce costs
• Monitor and analyze process parameters to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to specifications
• Conduct experiments and pilot testing to validate process improvements and new methodologies
• Prepare detailed process documentation, standard operating procedures and technical reports
• Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and waste
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and industry best practices
• Collaborate with production teams to translate process designs into operational practice
• Perform equipment maintenance planning and coordinate with maintenance teams on process‑related issues
• Analyze data and metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Support scaling of processes from laboratory to production environments

About the role

Advance Micro Surface Finishing Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented Process Engineer to join our engineering team on a full‑time basis at our facility in Simpang Ampat, Penang. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for optimising and improving our Metal Suface Treatment processes, ensuring operational efficiency, quality standards and safety compliance. You will play a crucial part in developing and implementing process improvements that drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge in surface finishing technology.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise Metal Suface Treatment processes and workflows to enhance productivity and reduce costs

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 2‑3 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in surface treatment, finishing or manufacturing industries an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of chemical processes, reactions and material handling
• Proficiency in process simulation software and engineering design tools
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges
• Experience with quality control and process optimisation methodologies
• Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations and compliance requirements
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams
• Demonstrated capability in technical documentation and report writing
• Knowledge of cost‑benefit analysis and project management principles
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software an added advantage.
• Familiarity with electroplating, coating or surface finishing processes would be advantageous
