Job summary

Benchmark Electronics is seeking a Process Engineer in Penang to design and optimize manufacturing processes for electronic components and assemblies, ensuring quality and efficiency.

You will analyze processes, run capability studies, support equipment installation, and mentor junior staff while adhering to ISO standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering) or equivalent qualification.
• 3-5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing operations, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes including SMT, PCB assembly, and quality control methods.
• Proficiency in process optimisation techniques, statistical analysis, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to implement practical solutions.
• Experience with manufacturing software systems and data analysis tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional teamwork.
• Knowledge of ISO standards, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
• Microsoft Office and engineering software proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop manufacturing processes for electronic components and assemblies to ensure efficiency and quality.
• Conduct process analysis, identify bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Establish and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and SOPs.
• Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions.
• Perform process capability studies and statistical analyses to monitor performance.
• Manage process validation and qualification activities to ensure customer and standards compliance.
• Support capital equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures for safety and environmental compliance.
• Mentor junior engineering staff and production personnel; prepare technical reports and improvement proposals for management.

Prepare technical reports, presentations, and process improvement proposals for management review

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering) or equivalent qualification

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing operations, or related field

Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes, including surface mount technology (SMT), printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, and quality control methods

Proficiency in process optimisation techniques, statistical analysis, and lean manufacturing principles

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and implement practical solutions

Experience with manufacturing software systems and data analysis tools

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Knowledge of ISO standards, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance requirements

Familiarity with Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software applications
