Job summary

AECOM in Malaysia is seeking a Principal Engineer for HV secondary power distribution to lead design of protection and control systems, SLDs, metering layouts, and SCADA interfaces for large substations. The role requires 10+ years in grid substation design, Chartered Engineer or PE status, and prior experience leading large design teams, with familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards.

Qualifications

Master of Engineering degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) license from a global body.
10+ years of work experience, preferably in grid substation design.
Experience leading large design engineering teams in a global consultancy.
Experience with HV plant design for large EHV substations.

Responsibilities

Design protection and control systems, relay settings, and interlock logic for substations.
Prepare SLDs, protection logic diagrams, metering layouts, and cable termination diagrams.
Develop interconnection diagrams, cable schedules and related documentation.
Conduct relay coordination studies and fault analysis.
Perform power system studies: load flow, short-circuit, stability, start-up.
Create control and relay panel layouts, GA drawings and BOMs.
Design SCADA schemes and integrate protection systems with field devices.
Review design documentation for IEC/IEEE compliance and utility specs.
Support commissioning including FAT and site integration of secondary systems.
Coordinate with other engineering teams for integration with primary infrastructure.
Prepare external connection tables and other design deliverables as required.
