Job summary

Astreya is seeking an IT generalist to act as the onsite technical presence for a group of manufacturing plants in Malaysia. You will be the first hands-on responder for everything from workstations to server racks and IoT devices on the line.

You will diagnose issues, perform routine OS tasks, maintain site playbooks, and coordinate with vendors for repairs. Occasional travel to regional sites and after-hours support may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on IT support experience in onsite/field/deskside roles.
• Broad IT environment knowledge: end-user devices, Windows Server, basic Linux, printers, hardware break-fix, basic network troubleshooting (IP, DNS, DHCP, switches, cabling).
• Comfort with data center/server-room hardware: racking, cabling, swapping drives/components, following vendor procedures.
• Structured, engineering-minded problem solving: form hypotheses, test, and document findings.
• Good judgment on when to escalate and communicate status clearly to stakeholders during outages.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and travel regularly to regional sites, with occasional after-hours work.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite support and break-fix for users and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across plant IT: workstations, desktops, laptops, printers, basic networks, and site servers/storage.
• Perform smart-hands tasks for remote teams: hardware checks/swaps, cabling, reboots, guided troubleshooting.
• Support site-specific tech, including IoT devices, RFID, AV systems, time clocks, and kiosks.
• Carry out routine OS tasks on Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2019/2022, and Ubuntu; manage patches and restarts.
• Monitor alerts, perform first-level triage, and hand off to the correct team with clear findings.
• Serve as main onsite IT contact for plant staff; translate status for plant leaders; coordinate vendor visits and on-site repairs.
• Travel to other plants in the region for support, projects, and coverage as needed.
