We are looking for a Pharmacy Aid to join our Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacy Aid will support pharmacists and pharmacy assistants in the daily operation of the pharmacy, including medication packing, inventory management, stock replenishment, documentation, internal medication dispatch, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Pack pharmaceutical supplies for patients under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Replenish pharmaceutical stocks on pharmacy shelves and ensure adequate supplies are available.
- Conduct stock checks and participate in monthly/internal stock takes.
- Prepare near-expiry stock listings and arrange pharmaceutical inventory according to FEFO (First Expiry, First Out).
- Prepare and tag pharmaceutical inventories with barcode labels.
- Check tagging labels on pharmacy shelves and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Collect and dispatch medications between outpatient and inpatient pharmacies.
- Deliver IV drips and pharmaceutical supplies to wards when required.
- Assist with interdepartmental stock requisitions and transfers.
- Organize and dispatch chemotherapy protocols to the relevant chemopharmacy.
- Assist with urgent medication loans and collections from other hospitals when required.
- Handle cash transactions at the retail pharmacy.
- Compile and file delivery orders and maintain proper pharmacy documentation and records.
- File prescriptions and dispensing-related records securely.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of pharmacy and storage areas.
- Clean and sterilize pharmacy equipment and preparation areas as required.
- Replenish clinical waste and sharps bins and ensure proper disposal.
- Support pharmacists in serving customers and attending to general enquiries under supervision.
- Liaise with pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, clerks, and nurses to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
- Report incidents, system errors, and other issues for further investigation and process improvement.
- Participate in hospital initiatives, new services, and continuing education programmes.
- Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum SPM qualification with at least 5 years of working experience in a hospital setting; OR
- Diploma in any field with at least 2 years of working experience in a hospital setting.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant hospital working experience.
- Possess knowledge of good storage practices and basic inventory management.
- Knowledge of documentation related to orders and supplies is an advantage.
- Able to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
- Able to work under pressure and manage stress effectively.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Pleasant personality, adaptable, and responsible.
- Good time management and accountability.
