Jobstreet Malaysia is seeking a Pest Control Technician to maintain food safety standards in our manufacturing facility in Malaysia. You will oversee IPM programs, enforce GMP, and ensure sanitation protocols are followed across production areas.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Professional Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biology, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or a professional pest control role handling food‑grade accounts.
  • Valid local Pesticide Applicator License (PAL) or Assistant License (APL).
  • Formal training in HACCP, GMP, or FSSC 22000.
  • Strong eye for detail regarding plant cleanliness and structural defects.
  • Basic computer skills for logging data and analyzing pest trend charts.
  • Ability to communicate firmly but professionally with production teams regarding GMP compliance.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work in varying temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with external pest control vendors to ensure services comply with food safety standards.
  • Conduct daily and weekly checks of ILTs, pheromone traps, and rodent bait stations.
  • Review pest logs and vendor reports to identify trend patterns and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and report structural gaps or defects that could allow pest entry.
  • Maintain inventory of approved, food‑safe chemicals and SDSs used on‑site.
  • Conduct routine facility GMP audits to ensure staff hygiene and storage practices.
  • Perform pre‑operational hygiene checks on production lines to prevent contamination.
  • Issue corrective action requests for GMP violations and follow up on resolutions.
  • Oversee cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and high‑care areas; monitor sanitation validation results.
  • Maintain pest control maps, chemical usage logs, and cleaning checklists for audit readiness.
  • Assist during external food safety audits by presenting pest and sanitation documentation.

Job description

The Pest Control Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance within our manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for the hands‑on execution and monitoring of the plant’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) enforcement, and facility sanitation protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pest Management
  1. Program Oversight Coordinate with and monitor external pest control vendors to ensure all services comply with food safety standards.

  2. Routine Inspections Conduct daily and weekly checks of insect light traps (ILTs), pheromone traps, and internal/external rodent bait stations.

  3. Data & Trend Analysis Review pest catches logs and vendor reports to identify trend patterns, implementing immediate corrective actions for any spikes in activity.

  4. Structural Exclusion Proactively identify and report structural gaps, damaged door seals, or structural defects that could allow pest entry.

  5. Chemical Control Maintain an updated inventory of approved, food‑safe chemicals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) used on‑site.

GMP Enforcement & Auditing
  1. Daily Plant Walkthroughs Conduct routine facility audits to ensure production staff comply with GMP rules (e.g., proper hairnets, uniforms, handwashing, and tool storage).

  2. Pre‑Operational Inspections Perform pre‑op hygiene checks on production lines before manufacturing begins to ensure zero chemical or physical contamination.

  3. Non‑Conformance Reporting Issue corrective action requests when GMP violations or hygiene lapses are found, and follow up to ensure resolution.

Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) Execution
  1. Cleaning Validation Oversee and verify the cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment, high‑care areas, and non‑production zones according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Perform environmental monitoring, including ATP bioluminescence swabs or microbiological environmental sampling, to validate cleaning effectiveness.
  2. Chemical Dilution Monitor and log the correct titration and safe handling of sanitation chemicals.
Documentation & Audit Readiness
  1. Maintain flawless, up‑to‑date records of pest control maps, chemical usage logs, cleaning checklists, and validation results.
  2. Audit Support Act as a key subject matter expert during external food safety audits, presenting pest and sanitation documentation to auditors.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • Minimum of a Professional Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biology, Agriculture, or a related field.
Experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or a professional pest control role handling food‑grade accounts.
Certifications (Highly Advantageous):
  • Valid local Pesticide Applicator License (PAL) or Assistant License (APL).
  • Formal training in HACCP, GMP, or FSSC 22000
Skills
  • Strong eye for detail regarding plant cleanliness and structural defects.
  • Basic computer skills for logging data and analyzing pest trend charts.
  • Ability to communicate firmly but professionally with production teams regarding GMP compliance.
Physical Requirements
