Job summary

Ichia Technologies Sdn Bhd in Kulim, Malaysia seeks a PCB Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and maintain PCB manufacturing processes, ensuring quality and efficiency.

You will support NPI, process setup, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while complying with ISO/IPC standards and coordinating with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of PCB process engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain PCB manufacturing processes to improve quality, yield, and productivity.
  • Set up and validate process parameters for PCB production (drilling, imaging, etching, plating, solder mask, surface finishing, routing, AOI, testing, final inspection).
  • Support NPI by establishing process flow, PFMEA, control plans, and process qualification.
  • Conduct process trials, machine setup, and validation to ensure stable production.
  • Monitor process performance using SPC and CAPA; implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D to improve processes.
  • Evaluate new equipment, materials, and technologies to enhance capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IPC standards and customer requirements.

The PCB Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining PCB manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, production efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This role supports new product introduction (NPI), process setup, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and optimize PCB manufacturing processes to improve quality, yield, and productivity.
  • Set up and validate process parameters for PCB production, including drilling, imaging, etching, plating, solder mask, surface finishing, routing, AOI, electrical testing, and final inspection.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by establishing process flow, work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, and process qualification.
  • Conduct process trials, machine setup, and process validation to ensure stable production before mass manufacturing.
  • Monitor process performance using SPC and process capability analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions to minimize defects and downtime.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate new equipment, materials, and technologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, IPC standards, customer requirements, and company quality procedures.
  • Prepare technical reports, SOPs, process documentation, and engineering change documentation.
  • Support cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of process engineering experience in the PCB manufacturing industry.
  • Hands-on experience with PCB manufacturing processes such as drilling, imaging, plating, etching, solder mask, surface finish, AOI, electrical testing, and routing.
  • Strong knowledge of process setup, DOE, SPC, PFMEA, FMEA, 8D, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing standards (IPC, ISO 9001, IATF 16949) is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin (spoken and written) is an added advantage to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking colleagues, suppliers, and headquarters.
