Job summary

Jora Malaysia in Bayan Lepas, Penang is seeking a Payroll Officer to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, comply with local tax regulations, and protect employee data privacy while coordinating with payroll vendors.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or HR-related fields, fluent English and Bahasa Malaysia, at least 1 year in payroll, and solid MS Excel skills (Pivot Table, VLOOKUP). The company offers leave benefits and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or HR-related fields.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
• Minimum 1 year of payroll processing experience.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Table, VLOOKUP).
• Knowledge of General Ledger postings is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll activities in compliance with policies and local tax rules.
• Explore opportunities to simplify and automate payroll processes for cost-efficiency.
• Participate in retrospectives/meetings with the payroll vendor.
• Provide consultancy to payroll vendors on system setup and issues.
• Monitor monthly payroll payout accuracy and schedule.
• Validate vendor test results for new programs or statutory changes.
• Support auditors with deadlines, controls and approvals for payroll processes.
• Prepare financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.

• Participate in retrospective and performance review meetings with the payroll vendor.
• Manage and provide consultancy to payroll vendors on payroll system setup as well as any payroll issues/problems.
• Monitor and manage the payroll vendor to ensure monthly payroll pay-out accurate and on schedule.
• Validating test results provided by the payroll vendor for the rollout of new compensation and benefits programs or new statutory requirements.
• Support internal and external auditors ensuring deadlines are met and each request control, approval, and validation checks are in place for the payroll processes.
• Prepare financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
