Job summary

Quality Oracle Sdn Bhd seeks a Patent Executive to assist inventors and businesses in protecting technologies across multiple jurisdictions. You will manage the patent lifecycle, draft specifications and claims, perform searches and respond to office actions.

You will work closely with clients, inventors and examiners, and you will stay current on patent laws while prioritising accuracy and timely delivery of matters. Chinese language skills are welcome as an added advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, Technology or a related technical discipline.
• At least two years of working experience in the patent field, preferably involving patent searches, drafting and prosecution.
• Good understanding of patent filing and prosecution procedures.
• Strong research, analytical and technical writing skills.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Ability to converse and write in Chinese would be an added advantage.
• Technology-savvy and comfortable adopting new digital tools, research databases and systems to improve work processes.
• Able to manage multiple matters and deadlines accurately and independently.
• Comfortable communicating with clients, inventors and external stakeholders.
• Positive, open-minded and willing to learn, take on unfamiliar subject matters and improve through feedback.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on patent protection, filing strategies and portfolio management.
• Work with clients and inventors to understand their inventions and obtain the necessary technical information.
• Conduct patent searches, review prior art and assess the patentability of inventions.
• Draft and review patent specifications, claims and related documents.
• Prepare responses to examination reports, office actions and other official communications.
• Manage patent applications from instruction through filing, prosecution and grant, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.
• Liaise with clients, patent offices, examiners, patent agents and foreign associates.
• Monitor relevant deadlines, keep clients informed and follow up on outstanding matters.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for assigned matters.
• Support patent disputes, enforcement, industrial design and other related matters where required.
• Stay updated on patent laws and procedures, and contribute to improvements in the team’s work processes.
