Job summary

Syarikat Peladang & Perusahaan Minyak Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a dedicated Laboratory Supervisor to lead our palm oil mill's laboratory operations, ensuring accurate QC analyses, compliance with MPOB standards, and timely data for production decisions.

You will supervise lab staff, validate results, maintain calibration and safety, prepare reports for internal and regulatory use, and coordinate with auditors for ISO, RSPO, MSPO, HACCP and MPOB certifications.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biotechnology, or plantation management.
• 2–5 years laboratory experience in palm oil or manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of MPOB test methods and palm oil quality parameters.
• Familiarity with ISO/RSPO/MSPO systems is an advantage.
• Strong leadership and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily laboratory operations, including sample analysis for FFB grading, CPO quality, kernel quality, moisture, impurities, FFA, DOBI, and other mill parameters.
• Ensure testing procedures comply with MPOB guidelines and mill SOPs.
• Verify and validate laboratory results before submission to management.
• Monitor production process performance and provide timely quality data for optimization of key metrics.
• Maintain laboratory equipment calibration, chemical inventory, and documentation.
• Lead, train, and supervise lab technicians to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory reports for internal use and regulatory submissions.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors for ISO, RSPO, MSPO, HACCP, and MPOB compliance.
• Enforce safety protocols for chemical handling, equipment use, and housekeeping.
• Maintain accurate records for traceability and certification requirements.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Supervisor to lead laboratory operations at our palm oil mill. The role is responsible for overseeing all quality control analyses, ensuring compliance with MPOB standards, and providing accurate data to support production efficiency and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily laboratory operations, including sample analysis for FFB grading, CPO quality, kernel quality, moisture, impurities, FFA, DOBI, and other mill parameters.
• Ensure all testing procedures comply with MPOB guidelines and mill SOPs.
• Verify and validate laboratory results before submission to management.
• Monitor production process performance and provide timely quality data to support optimization of OER, KER, clarification efficiency, boiler treatment, effluent treatment, and other critical areas.
• Maintain laboratory equipment calibration, chemical inventory, and documentation.
• Lead, train, and supervise lab technicians to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory reports for internal use and regulatory submissions.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors for ISO, RSPO, MSPO, HACCP, and MPOB compliance.
• Enforce safety protocols for chemical handling, equipment use, and housekeeping within the laboratory.
• Maintain accurate records for traceability and certification requirements.

Requirements:

• Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biotechnology, Plantation Management, or related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of laboratory experience, preferably in a palm oil mill or manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of MPOB test methods and palm oil quality parameters.
• Experience with ISO / RSPO / MSPO systems is an added advantage.
• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead a small team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• CePPOME or/and CePSWaM is a plus
