Job summary

Fortis Star Sdn Bhd is a ready-mix concrete company focused on sustainable construction. We invite fresh Civil Engineering graduates to join us as a technical support specialist in Johor with exposure to lab testing, plant trials, and collaboration with operations and sales teams.

You will assist in laboratory procedures, quality control, and developing design mixes while supporting certifications like ISO 9001 and SIRIM.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal communication skills required.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Knowledge on civil engineering, construction technology, material science, concrete technology and production.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers, operations and sales teams.
• Maintain laboratory and testing facilities with accurate results per relevant standards.
• Assist in evaluating test results to develop design mixes and optimize raw materials.
• Develop new concrete testing methods and prepare audit documents for labs and plants.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, SINGLAS, SIRIM, CIDB and SNI where applicable.
• Plan resources and coordinate with drivers; ensure plant safety and housekeeping.

Job description

Provide technical support to customers, as well as operations and sales department. Duties include conducting official plant trial mixes, monitoring of in-situ concrete performance at site, and providing technical data or specifications that is required by customers and internal departments

Maintain laboratory and testing facilities, responsible for test procedures and accurate results of raw materials and concrete in accordance with the relevant international testing methods and specifications

Assist in evaluating and monitoring test results of raw materials and concrete so as to develop design mixes that optimizes the qualities of different raw materials

Develop new concrete testing methods

Prepare internal and external audit documents for laboratories and plants

Assist in implementing and reviewing all relevant national certifications and licenses accorded to the Company, such as ISO 9001, SINGLAS, SIRIM, CIDB and SNI

Ensure orderly stock-take of materials

Plan orders of resources including raw materials, mixer trucks, manpower and etc

Communicate regularly with drivers and solve their issues

Maintain good housekeeping of plant and ensure plant assets are well-maintained

Control and monitor plant utilities

To ensure DO is collected

To ensure proper handling of cubes

Ensure good staff discipline

Take initiative to suggest improvements to work and other areas

To comply with the safety standards and policies implemented by the Company at all times and be responsible with your own safety as well as others without posing any threat, hazard or endangerment wherever you will be when representing the Company

Other ad-hoc duties or projects as assigned

Requirements:

Knowledge on civil engineering, construction technology, material science, concrete technology and production

Knowledge on laboratory tests, relevant standards and specifications

Interpersonal communication skills

Proficient in both written and spoken English

Bachelor in Civil Engineering or equivalent
