SUPER UNIART INDUSTRIES (M) SDN BHD, a Malaysian plastic manufacturer based in Malacca, is seeking an Operations Manager to lead daily manufacturing, planning, and efficiency initiatives. You will coordinate across Production, Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, Engineering, Warehouse, and Supply Chain to meet output and delivery targets.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6–10 years of experience in manufacturing operations with supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  • 6-10 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial operations, including supervisory/management experience.
  • Strong experience in production and operations management.
  • Experience managing production teams in a high-volume or fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with production planning, quality, maintenance, tooling, warehouse, and engineering functions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily manufacturing and operational activities to achieve planned production output.
  • Ensure production schedules are executed effectively and customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Monitor manpower, machine capacity, material availability, and production priorities.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, Engineering, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Identify operational constraints and take timely corrective action.
  • Conduct daily production and operations review meetings.
  • Ensure effective shift management and communication across all levels.
  • Work with Planning to ensure production plans are realistic and achievable.
  • Monitor production progress against daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
  • Optimize production flow, line balancing, manpower allocation, and machine utilization.
  • Manage production priorities based on customer requirements and business needs.
  • Minimize production delays, bottlenecks, downtime, and waiting time.
  • Ensure smooth production changeovers and effective resource utilization.
  • Drive improvements in productivity, OEE, labor efficiency, and machine utilization.
  • Identify and eliminate operational losses and non-value-added activities.
  • Improve production cycle time, changeover time, line balance, and throughput.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and improvement initiatives
  • Establish and monitor operational KPIs.
  • Ensure improvement projects deliver measurable benefits.
  • Ensure production processes consistently meet established quality standards.
  • Work closely with Quality to control defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Ensure operators follow approved work instructions and process standards.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Promote quality-at-source and first-time-right production.
  • Ensure process deviations are properly controlled and escalated.
  • Monitor operational costs and support achievement of manufacturing cost targets.
  • Control overtime, labor utilization, scrap, rework, consumables, and other operating expenses.
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
  • Support annual budgeting and operational cost planning.
  • Track and report cost-saving initiatives and realized benefits.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to minimize equipment breakdowns and production downtime.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance activities are properly coordinated with production requirements.
  • Escalate critical equipment issues and support rapid recovery.
  • Coordinate with Tooling teams to ensure tools, dies, molds, fixtures, and gauges are available and fit for production.
  • Support equipment upgrades, automation projects, and process improvements.
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed throughout operations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and zero-accident mindset.
  • Ensure compliance with company EHS procedures and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper implementation of 5S, housekeeping, PPE, machine safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Immediately address unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives across production and support functions.
  • Use data and structured problem-solving to identify root causes of operational issues.
  • Promote Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and other continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • Standardize successful improvements and ensure sustainability.
  • Benchmark operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance reports.

D. Quality Management

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline.

6-10 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial operations, including supervisory/management experience.

Strong experience in production and operations management.

Experience managing production teams in a high-volume or fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Experience working with production planning, quality, maintenance, tooling, warehouse, and engineering functions.
