Job summary

SUPER UNIART INDUSTRIES (M) SDN BHD in Malacca, Malaysia seeks a Maintenance Engineer to ensure reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement of plastics manufacturing equipment. You will lead preventive and predictive maintenance, optimize machine performance, and drive cost reductions while upholding safety standards.

The role involves cross‑functional collaboration with production, quality and maintenance teams, hands‑on problem solving, and project management to install and commission

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related engineering field.
• 5–7 years in manufacturing, preferably plastics or packaging.
• Hands‑on experience with molding equipment.
• Strong knowledge of PLC systems.
• Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and servo systems.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma (preferred).
• Problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Project management capability.

Job description

Responsible for the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of manufacturing such as injection molding, ISBM, two stage and blow molding machines. This role ensures minimal downtime, optimal performance, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic)
  • Improve machine uptime and reduce breakdown frequency
  • Maintain critical spare parts inventory
• Process & Equipment Optimization
  • Optimize machine settings for efficiency, quality, and cost reduction
  • Support process engineers in improving molding/extrusion processes
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues
  • Lead installation and commissioning of new machines and auxiliary systems
  • Work with vendors on Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
  • Ensure proper machine setup, calibration, and documentation
  • Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Implement automation and digital monitoring where applicable
  • Reduce scrap, energy usage, and maintenance costs
• Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all equipment complies with safety standards and regulations
  • Support audits (ISO, GMP if applicable)
• Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain equipment history, maintenance logs, and SOPs
  • Prepare reports on equipment performance and improvement projects
  • Update technical drawings and manuals
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams
  • Train technicians and operators on proper equipment use
  • Coordinate with suppliers and external contractors

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field
