Job summary

Flexport is seeking an Ops Associate in Kuala Lumpur to support end-to-end shipments and coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal teams. The role focuses on delivering reliable logistics service while scaling Flexport's operations regionally.

You will analyze operational data, address issues proactively, and contribute to process improvements in a fast-paced, global team setting.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
• 2–5 years of professional logistics experience (freight forwarding, ocean operations preferred).
• English required; Mandarin language skills are an advantage.
• Experience with handling special cargo (reefer, DG, oversized) is a plus.
• High attention to detail in documentation, billing, and data entry.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; proactive, organized team player in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end shipments handling (FCL, LCL, Export, Import) including booking and milestones.
• Create/manage shipment details and maintain high data quality across systems.
• Coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure on-time shipments per customer promises.
• Monitor and resolve exceptions at origin and destination to ensure smooth operations.
• Analyze operational data and provide management with actionable insights.

The opportunity:

The role of the Ops Associate is a critical part of making Flexport's mission to make global trade easy for everyone a reality. In this role, your direct customers are the partners within your region: our account management and customs teams, subcontractors, carriers, terminals and trucking providers. Your work directly supports Flexport's end customers in achieving their logistics goals. Most importantly, you will play a pivotal role in building the next operational model at Flexport: allowing us to effectively scale to achieve our mission of making global trade easier for everyone.

This role is designed to problem solve impactful operational challenges as part of our Global team while developing specialized expertise in supply chain operations. Scope of Duties:

• To execute end-to-end shipments handling (FCL, LCL, Export, Import), including booking, documentation, and milestone updates, ensuring key performance indicators are met.
• To create/manage the shipment details and maintain high data quality, ensuring that all systems are kept up to date promptly.
• To coordinate and communicate directly with all involved stakeholders to ensure shipments are on time based on the customer promise.
• To monitor, troubleshoot and elevate exceptions or discrepancies as required to ensure smooth operations at origin and destination.
• To address root causes proactively and notify relevant person to prevent the recurrence of service gaps.
• To analyze operational data and provide reports to management with actionable insights.

What you will need:

• BA/BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in professional logistics, freight forwarding, ocean operations (Seafreight knowledge is a plus)
• Professional proficiency in English is required; Mandarin language skills are an advantage
• Experience or Exposure to handle special cargo (reefer, DG, oversized) will be an advantage
• High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, billing, and data entry
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• A proactive, organized team player who thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
