Job summary

Brooks is seeking an NPI Buyer to support material buying and planning for complex designs in a design‑centric environment. This role requires translating MRP signals into purchase orders, maintaining PFEP, and ensuring readiness for engineering builds and product launches.

You will collaborate with global suppliers and internal teams, drive on‑time material receipt, and optimize inventory to align with project schedules while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, supply chain, manufacturing, or a related field.
Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), engineering builds, or product development programs preferred.
Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, inventory planning, and procurement processes.
Ability to review and analyze engineering BOMs, drawings, and technical documentation.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and drive timely solutions.
Experience collaborating with suppliers to manage delivery, quality, cost, and schedule commitments.

Responsibilities

Create and manage purchase orders and requests for quotes to include technical documents, pricing, delivery and key milestones to ensure on-time receipt of material.
Transform MRP demand signals into planned orders to create confirming Purchase Orders using appropriate and approved Inventory planning rules and guidelines.
Develop and maintain PFEP by reviewing engineering and pre-production BOMs and driving required actions.
Drive component readiness to support engineering builds, prototypes, DV/PV builds, pilot production, and product launches.
Expedite critical materials and coordinate recovery actions to prevent schedule impacts.
Analyze, adjust and optimize product and component inventory levels to coincide with design project schedules and/or manufacturing demand and lead time changes.
Support Engineering in management for design projects, engineering BOMs, engineering change orders (ECO) and supplier-initiated action requests (SIARs).
Work collaboratively with Commodity Management to align sourcing strategies, mitigate risk, and negotiate optimal purchase agreements.
