Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in supplier evaluation and development for new product introductions.
• Strong supplier quality knowledge to support launches.
• Proven procurement and supply chain management skills for sourcing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with technical drawings.
• Excellent cross-functional communication with engineering, procurement, and operations.
• Engineering or supply chain degree is beneficial.
• Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is beneficial.

Role Description

The NPD Sourcing Engineer is a 1 year contract basis, on‑site role based in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. This position is responsible for supporting new product development by identifying, evaluating, and onboarding suppliers that meet technical, quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Day‑to‑day activities include collaborating with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to define sourcing strategies, assessing supplier capabilities, and managing early supplier involvement in design and development phases. The role involves negotiating sourcing terms for new components, monitoring supplier performance during prototype and pre‑production builds, and ensuring alignment with Molex’s supply chain and quality standards. The NPD Sourcing Engineer also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, risk mitigation plans, and cost‑optimization efforts throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Supplier Evaluation and Supplier Development to support new product introduction and ensure robust supplier capabilities.
• Candidates should possess expertise in Supplier Quality to maintain compliance with Molex standards and support quality assurance in new product launches.
• Candidates should possess skills in Procurement and Supply Chain Management to manage sourcing activities, materials availability, and cost‑effective supply strategies.
• Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work cross‑functionally with engineering, quality, procurement, and operations teams.
• A relevant engineering or supply chain degree, or equivalent experience in sourcing for manufacturing or electronics industries, is beneficial.
• Experience with global suppliers, contract negotiation, and continuous improvement methodologies (such as Lean or Six Sigma) is beneficial.
