Job summary

NAI COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a hands-on NPI Engineer to drive new product introductions and transfers to mass production in Penang.

You will lead cross-functional activities, review manufacturing documentation, and ensure on-time project execution with a focus on BOM, PFMEA, and ECN controls. The role emphasizes sample builds, process optimization, and tight coordination with Engineering, Production, Quality, and other functions to achieve manufacturing readiness

Qualifications

• Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in NPI, manufacturing, process engineering, production engineering or related environment.
• Good knowledge and hands-on experience in cable assembly manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Experience in NPI, product transfer and sample builds.
• Good knowledge of BOM, PFMEA, Process Flow, SOP/Work Instructions and ECN.
• Experience in RFQ, product costing or cost analysis will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 will be an added advantage.
• Quality Management Systems (QMS) knowledge and related requirements.

Responsibilities

Job description

New Product Introduction & Product Transfer

Support the introduction and transfer of new products into manufacturing.

Develop and review production layouts, equipment requirements, production standards and assembly costs for new projects and product transfers.

Ensure all required technical and manufacturing information is properly prepared and documented before production transfer.

Coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure new projects are transferred smoothly and effectively into mass production.

Support process optimization and production efficiency improvement after mass-production launch.

Sample Build & Technical Support

Lead and coordinate sample builds to ensure samples are completed according to project requirements and timelines.

Review and verify customer and internal technical information before sample builds and production transfer.

Troubleshoot technical and manufacturing issues during sample builds and new product introduction.

Coordinate corrective actions and follow up on issues affecting project progress and manufacturing readiness.

Project Management

Support NPI project planning and coordinate activities across relevant functional departments.

Monitor project progress and follow up on key activities to ensure project timelines are achieved.

Coordinate closely with Engineering, Production, Quality and other relevant functions throughout the NPI process.

Ensure a smooth and effective transition from NPI to mass production.

Prepare, review and maintain engineering and manufacturing documentation, including:

PFMEA

Process Flow

SOP / Work Instructions

Finished Goods Drawings

Bill of Materials (BOM)

Ensure engineering documents are accurate, properly controlled and ready to support production requirements.

Prepare RFQ BOM and cost analysis for new project quotations.

Review manufacturing processes and identify alternative solutions for cost reduction.

Drive process and production efficiency improvements for mass production.

Support Continuous Improvement initiatives related to quality, cost, productivity and manufacturing efficiency.

Identify opportunities for waste elimination and manufacturing cost reduction.

Implement appropriate corrective actions for internal and external issues.

Other Responsibilities

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superior.

Requirements

Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in NPI, manufacturing, process engineering, production engineering or a related environment.

Good knowledge and hands-on experience in cable assembly manufacturing is highly preferred.

Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfer and sample builds.

Good knowledge of BOM, PFMEA, Process Flow, SOP/Work Instructions and ECN.

Experience in RFQ, product costing or cost analysis will be an added advantage.

Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 will be an added advantage.

Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and related requirements.

ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 Internal Auditor certification will be an added advantage.

Experience or knowledge in semiconductor cable assembly will be an added advantage.

Good project coordination, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple project activities.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate in Chinese will be an added advantage.

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, organized, technically strong and capable of driving projects across different functions.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with cable assembly manufacturing, NPI, product transfers, sample builds, engineering documentation, BOM/costing and process improvement, with the ability to support a project from initial evaluation through successful mass production.
