Job summary

STARNET COMMUNICATIONS SDN. BHD, based in Johor Bahru, seeks a dedicated Network Technician to maintain and support our network infrastructure.

You will ensure reliability, performance and security of telecom systems, enabling seamless delivery of services to clients. Key responsibilities include installing and configuring network equipment, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, performing maintenance, and documenting procedures with senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Qualification in IT or telecommunications or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience as a Network Technician or similar telecom support role.
• Solid knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP) and network architecture.
• Hands-on experience with routers, switches and firewalls.
• Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Understanding of telecommunications systems and infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills.
• Proactive learner with ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Installing, configuring and maintaining network equipment including routers, switches and firewalls.
• Monitoring network performance and identifying potential issues before service impact.
• Troubleshooting connectivity problems and implementing timely resolutions.
• Performing regular maintenance and updates for optimal functionality.
• Assisting with deployment and configuration of new telecom infrastructure.
• Documenting configurations, changes and troubleshooting steps.
• Responding to support requests and providing first/second-line assistance.
• Collaborating with senior engineers to resolve complex issues.
• Conducting basic network security audits and aiding security implementations.
• Supporting compliance with industry standards and telecom regulations.
