Job summary

STARNET COMMUNICATIONS SDN. BHD, based in Johor Bahru, seeks a dedicated Network Technician to maintain and support our network infrastructure.

You will ensure reliability, performance and security of telecom systems, enabling seamless delivery of services to clients. Key responsibilities include installing and configuring network equipment, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, performing maintenance, and documenting procedures with senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Qualification in IT or telecommunications or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience as a Network Technician or similar telecom support role.
• Solid knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP) and network architecture.
• Hands-on experience with routers, switches and firewalls.
• Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Understanding of telecommunications systems and infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills.
• Proactive learner with ability to work under pressure.

STARNET COMMUNICATIONS SDN. BHD is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Network Technician to join our telecommunications team. This is a full-time position based in Taman Johor Jaya, Johor, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting our network infrastructure. As a Network Technician, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, performance and security of our telecommunications systems, directly contributing to the seamless delivery of services to our clients and the overall success of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Installing, configuring and maintaining network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls and related hardware
• Monitoring network performance and identifying potential issues before they impact service quality
• Troubleshooting network connectivity problems and implementing timely resolutions
• Performing regular network maintenance and system updates to ensure optimal functionality
• Assisting with the deployment and configuration of new telecommunications infrastructure
• Documenting network configurations, changes and troubleshooting procedures for future reference
• Responding to technical support requests from end users and providing first and second-line technical assistance
• Collaborating with senior network engineers and IT teams to resolve complex technical issues
• Conducting basic network security audits and assisting with the implementation of security protocols
• Supporting the organisation's compliance with industry standards and telecommunications regulations

What we're looking for

• Relevant qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Proven experience as a Network Technician or in a similar telecommunications support role
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, TCP/IP and network architecture
• Hands-on experience with network equipment such as routers, switches and firewalls
• Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools
• Understanding of telecommunications systems and infrastructure
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work methodically under pressure
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation
• A proactive approach to continuous learning and staying current with industry developments
