Job summary

Focal Consulting is seeking an accomplished Senior Backend Architect in Kuala Lumpur to lead backend teams and architect scalable .NET systems. You will drive engineering excellence, design robust microservices, and ensure high-quality code through reviews and best practices.

The role requires 5+ years in software development with 1-2 years in leadership, deep C#, ASP.NET Core Web API experience, and strong SQL Server, Redis, Docker, and cloud skills (AWS/Azure).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with at least 1-2 years in a technical leadership or architectural role.
• Deep hands-on expertise in C#, modern .NET / ASP.NET Core Web API, RESTful services, and Git-based workflows.
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, caching mechanisms (Redis), Docker, and cloud environments (AWS / Azure).
• Excellent communication skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to balance feature delivery with long‑term system health.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and guide backend engineers while driving high engineering standards and team accountability.
• System Architecture & Design: Design and architect robust, scalable backend microservices and API platforms using C# and ASP.NET Core.
• Code Quality & Best Practices: Enforce clean architecture principles, conduct thorough code reviews, and proactively eliminate technical debt.
