Job summary

Prokhas in Malaysia is seeking a backend engineer to build and support government IT web applications. You will join a cross-functional team working with product managers, engineers, designers, and stakeholders to design scalable systems and improve performance.

You will implement event-driven backend services using Golang, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Python, design APIs, write tests, participate in code reviews, and support production systems through on-call rotations.

What we’re looking for

• Experience with statically typed languages and building backend services in at least one of the listed languages
• Familiarity with asynchronous or event-driven systems
• Cares about code quality, testing, and long-term maintainability
• Comfortable participating in on-call rotations and handling production issues collaboratively
• Comfortable working in a team that values discussion and feedback

Nice to have

• Experience designing and building scalable APIs (REST, GraphQL)
• Familiarity with microservices or event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with domain-driven design (DDD) concepts
• Experience with database design and optimization (SQL and/or NoSQL)
• Understanding of system performance optimization (caching, concurrency, load handling)
• Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end)
• Exposure to observability tools (monitoring, logging, tracing) such as Prometheus or Grafana
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud Platform)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Understanding of security best practices (authentication, authorization, data protection)
• Interest in system design and product thinking beyond just implementation
