Job summary

SBH Kibing Silicon Materials (M) Sdn. Bhd. in Sabah seeks a skilled welder/fabricator to join the maintenance team. You will weld, fabricate, cut, and fit metal components according to drawings and instructions, ensuring quality and safety.

The role requires reading drawings, performing pump maintenance, and adhering to safety standards. Fresh candidates with strong technical skills are welcome; 1–2 years of welding, fabrication, plumbing, or mechanical maintenance is preferred.

Qualifications

• SPM or equivalent is required.
• Welding certifications (SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, 3G–6G) are an added advantage.
• 1–2 years of hands-on welding, fabrication, plumbing, or mechanical maintenance required; fresh candidates welcome.
• Ability to read technical drawings, piping layouts, and welding symbols.
• Willing to work shifts and overtime when required.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Job description

Perform welding and fabrication work according to drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

Operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.

Carry out cutting, grinding, fitting, and assembly of metal components. Inspect welded joints to ensure quality and compliance with required standards.

Repair and maintain damaged metal structures, machinery, and equipment as required.

Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of welding machines and related tools.

Assist in mechanical maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair works as assigned.

Support maintenance and production activities by performing multi-skilled tasks beyond welding duties when necessary.

Follow workplace safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Maintain good housekeeping and keep the work area clean and organized.

Report equipment defects, safety hazards, and work progress to the supervisor.

Cooperate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Perform any other mechanical, maintenance, or related duties assigned by the supervisor or management from time to time.

Job Requirements

Minimum SPM / Secondary School qualification or equivalent.

Relevant welding certifications (SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, 3G–6G positions) are an added advantage.

At least 1–2 years of hands‑on experience in welding, fabrication, plumbing, or mechanical maintenance work. Fresh candidates with strong technical skills are welcome to apply.

Ability to read technical drawings, piping layouts, and welding symbols. Knowledge of mechanical tools, industrial pumps (maintenance & troubleshooting), and general plumbing systems.

Perform general welding, plumbing, and pump maintenance duties as assigned.

Support plant maintenance activities and respond to emergency equipment issues.

Strong adherence to safety standards and quality workmanship.

Responsible, physically fit, and able to work independently or in a team.

Willing to work shift rotations and overtime when required.
