Job summary

JLL is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and implement MEP systems for newbuild data center projects in Malaysia. You will prepare HVAC and piping layouts, select equipment, and ensure compliance with codes and industry standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years of data centre experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Procore.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• PE license preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in designing and managing mechanical systems—HVAC, Fire Systems, for data centre newbuilds and infrastructure fit-out projects.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, standards, and practices for infrastructure fit-out projects.
• Proficiency in design and/or project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HVAC, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore)
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including cooling towers, chillers, air handling units, and control systems.
• Experience with plumbing and piping design, including water distribution, fire protection, and plumbing fixtures.
• Familiarity with energy-efficient design principles and sustainability practices for mechanical systems.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver projects on schedule.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and implement MEP systems for newbuild data center projects.

• Provide technical support during construction, review contractor submittals, respond to RFIs, and conduct site visits.

• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and PMs to integrate systems into project plans.
• Participate in commissioning activities, conduct system tests, troubleshoot, and ensure performance.
• Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies and apply them to improve processes.
