Mechanical Engineer, BHS Interface Coordination (Base at KLIA Sepang)
1. BHS Mechanical & Civil/Structural Interface Coordination
- Act as the focal point for all interfaces between BHS Mechanical systems and Civil & Structural (C&S) works.
- Coordinate with BHS Mechanical engineers and C&S engineers to ensure alignment of conveyor layouts, equipment supports, structural openings, equipment foundations, and maintenance access requirements.
- Identify interface conflicts and coordinate timely technical resolutions before construction.
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings with consultants, designers, and stakeholders.
2. Technical Coordination
- Coordinate technical matters between BHS Mechanical, Civil & Structural, BIM, and construction teams.
- Review engineering drawings, RFIs, Technical Queries (TQs), and design submissions related to BHS mechanical interfaces.
- Track interface issues and follow up on outstanding technical actions until closure.
- Assist in evaluating design changes and their impact on construction and procurement.
3. Conveyor Support Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Review conveyor support leg drawings and fabrication details provided by the BHS supplier.
- Verify and summarize the Bill of Materials (BOM) for conveyor support legs, base plates, brackets, anchor bolts, fasteners, and associated hardware.
- Coordinate with BHS specialist, procurement, and fabrication teams to ensure BOM accuracy.
- Prepare material quantity summaries to support procurement planning.
- Monitor design revisions and update procurement quantities accordingly.
4. BIM and Design Coordination
- Review federated BIM models to identify interface issues between BHS Mechanical and Civil & Structural works.
- Coordinate with BIM teams to resolve clashes affecting conveyor supports and structural interfaces.
- Verify that engineering revisions are incorporated into the latest coordinated model.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings where required.
5. Construction Engineering Support
- Provide technical support during construction for BHS mechanical interface issues.
- Assist site teams in resolving engineering queries related to conveyor support installation.
- Coordinate with designers, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues without affecting approved design intent.
- Support constructability reviews for conveyor support installation.
6. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain interface register, technical issue logs, and engineering trackers.
- Prepare engineering reports, meeting minutes, and interface status updates.
- Monitor engineering deliverables related to BHS Mechanical and C&S interfaces.
- Ensure all engineering records are properly documented and controlled.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline from a recognized university.
- Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Graduate Engineer.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of engineering experience in industrial, airport, logistics, conveyor systems, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering interfaces involving Mechanical, Civil & Structural (C&S), and BIM teams.
- Experience in Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), conveyor systems, material handling systems, or automated logistics systems is preferred.
- Experience in reviewing Bills of Materials (BOM), engineering drawings, and procurement documentation is an advantage.
