Monroe Consulting Group, an executive recruitment firm, is partnering with an organisation in the Engineering Design industry to hire a Mechanical Design & Industrialisation Engineer. This opportunity is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Position Overview
This role will support the development of innovative mechanical engineering solutions from concept through to industrialisation and manufacturing readiness. This role will also contribute directly to product development and operational excellence while helping establish and grow a new local engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support mechanical design and detailed engineering on development programs
- Contribute to industrialisation and DFM reviews ahead of transfer to manufacturing
- Support prototype build, test planning, and test execution alongside contract manufacturers
- Act as a local technical point of contact in Kuala Lumpur as the team grows
- Work closely with Singapore team on shared projects
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (or above) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline
- 3-8 years of experience in mechanical design and/or industrialisation (NPI)
- Experience taking a design from concept through to manufacturable product
- Prior experience with prototype testing / test plan execution (preferred)
- Experience liaising with contract manufacturers in Malaysia, China, or the wider region (preferred)
- Optional exposure to medical device development (ISO 13485, design controls, regulatory awareness)
Technical / Functional Expertise
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD software)
- Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles
- Mechanical design and detailed engineering expertise
- Industrialisation and New Product Introduction (NPI) knowledge
- Prototype build, test planning, and test execution experience
- Understanding of manufacturing transfer processes
- Awareness of regulatory and quality requirements for medical devices, including ISO 13485 (advantageous)
- Fluent English communication skills; Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia would be advantageous for local supplier engagement
