Job summary

ECA Advanced Solutions Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Penang to drive CAD-based design, interpret drawings, and prepare BOMs for manufacturing and procurement.

You will own machine design from concept through to fabrication, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines. The role requires 5+ years in a manufacturing or automation environment, strong problem-solving skills, and hands-on support during installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a manufacturing or automation environment.
• Proficient in MS Office and CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Inventor.
• Proven experience in machine design, including design-for-manufacturing principles, casting considerations, machine operating sequences, and design optimization.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, drafting standards, GD&T, and engineering terminology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical technical solutions.
• Good understanding of ISO 9001:2015 requirements, quality management systems, and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Strong proficiency in CAD software to support design and drafting tasks.
• Ability to interpret customer drawings accurately to ensure design aligns with requirements.
• Preparation of Machine Manuals to document operational and maintenance procedures.
• Full responsibility for machine status, ensuring machines are maintained and functioning optimally throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and verification of engineering drawings and preparation of Bills of Materials (BOM) to support procurement and manufacturing.
• Raised Purchase Requisition to purchase parts.
• Translate customer requirements into detailed design specifications, evaluate design feasibility, and provide expert technical solutions to meet client expectations.
• Provide on-site support for mechanical-related issues during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Perform pre-buy-off inspections to verify compliance with customer requirements prior to delivery or acceptance.
• Ensure compliance with all ISO standards, company policies, safety practices, SOPs, work instructions, and guidelines.
• Attend project kick-off meetings to fully understand project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
• Carry out other duties and assignments as instructed by management to support project and organizational goals.
