Job summary

dormakaba International Holding AG in Malaysia seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the application solution team, focusing on product and solution development with experience in steel metal fabrication.

You will generate concepts, 3D models, manufacturing drawings and BOMs, prepare prototypes and manuals, and coordinate with sales, production and procurement to deliver projects. Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Draftsight) and knowledge of DFM/DFA/FMEA are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Familiar with DFM, DFA, FMEA, stack-up tolerancing, and geometric tolerancing.
• Familiar with the design process from feasibility to production realization.
• Must be familiar with manufacturing process of sheet metal fabrication.
• Advantage: die casting, injection molding, aluminum & rubber extrusion and 3D printing.
• Proficient with 3D and 2D CAD design software; SolidWorks and Draftsight preferred.
• Experience with testing, reliability, and qualification of product.
• Able to work hands-on and manage project deliverables individually.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Passion for product design.
• Coordination and communication skills; team mindset.
• Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Good spoken and written English; Mandarin and German a plus.
• Experience with Machinery Safety Directive 2011/42/EU is advantageous.

Summary

Your Tasks:

Your Skills:

• Working experience:
• Junior – Minimum 2 years working experience
• Senior – Minimum 5 years working experience
• Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Familiar with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), stack up tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing
• Familiarity in Design Process (Feasibility Study, Conceptual Design, Design Review, Verification, Validation etc) up to Production realization.
• Must be familiar with manufacturing process of sheet metal fabrication.
• Familiar with any following manufacturing process will be an advantage: die casting, injection molding, aluminum & rubber extrusion and 3D printing.
• Proficient with 3D and 2D CAD design software, preferable Solidworks and Draftsight
