Job summary

Dormakaba Malaysia is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the application solution team, focusing on product and solution development with expertise in sheet metal fabrication.

You will generate concepts, models, drawings and BOMs, coordinate with sales, production and procurement, and support prototypes, testing, and customer discussions to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience for junior; 5+ years for senior.
• Proficient in DFA, DFM, FMEA and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication.
• Strong communication in English; Mandarin/German is an advantage.
• Proficient in 3D/2D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).

Responsibilities

• Generate concepts and detailed designs for entrance system product.
• Create 3D models for design reviews.
• Produce manufacturing drawings and BOMs for manufacturing.
• Prepare mockups and prototypes for design review and verification.
• Prepare manuals for assembly, operation and maintenance.
• Produce test plans to verify the design.
• Develop customized designs for special projects.
• Review and evaluate design specifications with customers.
• Liaise with vendors to solve fabrication problems.
• Work with sales, production and procurement to deliver projects.
