Job summary

Benchmark Electronics in Bayan Lepas, Penang, seeks a detail-oriented Material Quote Specialist to support quotation and sourcing activities for new business opportunities, focusing on accurate material costs and timely RFQ submissions.

You will coordinate with suppliers for pricing, lead times, and technical data, analyze BOMs, and develop sourcing strategies across procurement, engineering, and supply chain teams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in material quoting, procurement, sourcing, commodity management, or supply chain within an EMS or manufacturing environment.
• Good knowledge of electronic components and their market trends.
• Experience reviewing BOMs, RFQs, and cost analysis.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare competitive material cost quotations for customer RFQs and new business opportunities.
• Coordinate with suppliers to obtain pricing, lead times, and technical information required for quotations.
• Ensure timely and accurate quote submissions to support customer and business requirements.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) quoting activities and material cost analysis.
• Monitor and track RFQ progress, ensuring all quotation milestones are met.
• Analyze BOMs and identify cost optimization opportunities.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
• Collaborate with suppliers on inventory and supply chain initiatives such as VMI, JIT, and lead time reduction programs.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements with suppliers to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
• Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Business Development teams to support business growth.

Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Material Quote Specialist to support the quotation and sourcing process for new business opportunities. This role plays a critical part in delivering accurate and competitive material costs, coordinating RFQ activities, and working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely and successful quote submissions.
