Benchmark Electronics is seeking a Buyer to secure timely procurement of materials supporting production and customer demand in Malaysia. You will work with suppliers and internal teams to manage purchase orders, optimize inventory, and sustain supply continuity while pursuing cost and operational objectives.
The role requires a Diploma or Degree in SCM or related field with at least 2 years of purchasing experience in EMS/manufacturing, plus strong negotiation, analytical, and Excel skills.

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely procurement and availability of materials required to support production and customer demand. You will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage purchase orders, optimize inventory levels, and maintain supply continuity while supporting cost and operational objectives.
Procure materials and components to support production schedules and customer requirements.
Manage purchase orders, monitor order status, and ensure on-time delivery from suppliers.
Review material requirements based on forecasts, demand, and MRP recommendations.
Coordinate with suppliers on delivery schedules, order confirmations, and issue resolution.
Support inventory management initiatives by balancing material availability with inventory targets.
Monitor supplier performance in areas such as delivery, quality, responsiveness, and capacity.
Manage material phase-in and phase-out activities while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
Proactively identify potential supply risks and develop recovery plans to prevent production disruptions.
Analyze purchase price variances and support cost reduction and sourcing initiatives.
Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure smooth material flow and supply chain execution.
Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Materials Management, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in an EMS or manufacturing environment.
Experience handling electronic components and supplier management.
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; experience with Baan is an advantage.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
