Job summary

PEC (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd seeks a Materials Control Specialist to manage the flow of construction materials on site, ensuring compliance with isometric drawings and strict documentation. You will coordinate MRI submissions, quotations, and approvals, while monitoring subcontractors and preventing wastage.

The role requires meticulous record-keeping, timely reporting, and collaboration with PEC Management to forecast material needs and manage scrap sales.

Responsibilities

• Check materials for damage before endorsing on receipt.
• Ensure materials issued align with specifications on isometric drawings.
• Monitor subcontractors’ handling and utilization of materials.
• Submit Material Request & Issue Slip (MRI) to client’s Field Discipline Engineer for signature.
• Submit to Client’s Material Controller for checking and preparation.
• Verify materials listed in isometric drawings are adequate for construction.
• Prepare material requirements forecast and advise PEC Management.
• Ensure all materials required by isometric drawings are entered into the ELS.
• Maintain proper documentation of all material requisitions.
• Submit reports on materials requested, received and outstanding to Systems Department.
• Ensure material requisitions are raised in a timely manner.
• Plan, monitor and document all sales of scrap metals.
• Obtain competitive quotes for materials to be purchased.
• Ensure each purchase is approved by the Site Manager with a PO.
• Verify inbound and outbound materials against documents like delivery orders.
• Document all signed delivery orders.
• Control and verify all materials taken out.
• Conduct frequent checks to minimize wastage and prevent pilferage.
• Plan and monitor movement of raw and fabrication materials.
• Carry out any other duties as required by superior or management.

2. To ensure materials are issued in accordance with specifications stated on isometric drawings.

3. To monitor subcontractors’ handling and utilization of materials.

4. To submit Material Request & Issue Slip (MRI) to client’s Field Discipline Engineer for signature.

5. To submit to Client’s Material Controller for checking and preparation.

6. To ensure materials indicated in material list for each isometric drawing are adequate for construction.

7. To prepare material requirements forecast and advise PEC Management.

8. To ensure all materials required by isometric drawings are keyed into the ELS.

9. To keep proper documentation of all material requisitions.

10. To submit report for materials requested, received and outstanding (if any) to Systems Department.

11. To ensure materials requisitions are raised in a timely manner.

12. To plan, monitor and document all sales of scrap metals.

13. To obtain competitive quotes for materials to be purchased.

14. To ensure that every purchase is made only when the Site Manager has approved the purchase order.

15. To ensure that all incoming and outgoing materials are properly verified against the necessary document like delivery orders, etc.

16. To document all signed delivery orders.

17. To control and verify all materials taken out.

18. To carry out frequent and regular check to ensure that material wastage is minimized and material pilferage is prevented at all times.

19. To plan and monitor the movement of raw and fabrication materials.

20. To carry out any other duties as and when required by the immediate superior or higher management.
