Job summary

Premier Hytemp Sdn Bhd in Gelang Patah, Johor, Malaysia, is seeking a Mechanical Tooling Engineer to provide technical support during pre-process discussions and evaluate complex machine drawings for manufacturing.

You will design tooling and fixtures, assist sales with cost estimates, test new tools, and lead continuous improvement initiatives in a global oil and gas tooling context.

Qualifications

• Minimum degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Preferably 2 years experience in oil and gas industry or related.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and MasterCam.
• Good understanding of ANSI, ASME Standards and API products requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support during pre-process discussions and evaluation of complex machine drawings.

Job description

Provide technical support and advice during Pre-process discussion and Evaluation of complex machine drawings for manufacturing.

Propose and implement design tooling & fixtures for machining of complex features.

Support sales team on accurate estimation of machining hours and provide fixture, spare tooling and other cost during quotation.

Perform testing on new tools and present to management on the cost savings.

Actively involved in improvement projects

Manage the tool room daily operation and train the Tool Crib Machinist to support production need.

Purchase tooling and maintain stock level to support production needs according to production 2week plan and new project needed.

Monitor monthly tooling spending and prepare trend report to Operation manager.

Source and develop new relevant and good machining vendors to company's approved vendor list. Provide technical guidance and ensure supplier passes first article approvals.

Liaise with suppliers to address tooling quality issue.

Continuously seek and work on cost savings and new vendor development projects

Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects.

Attend MRB and work with production team of non-conformance, corrective & preventive measure.

Prepare the production dimensions report

Qualification & Experience:

Minimum Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Preferably 2 years experience in oil and gas industry or 2 years relevant experiences.

Proficient in design and programming software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks & MasterCam etc.

Good understanding of ANSI, ASME Standards and API Products requirements.
