Job summary

KPJ Healthcare Berhad is seeking a Senior Research Management professional to lead policy development, governance, and grant administration within the Research Management Department. You will drive reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning to enhance research impact.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
• PhD is highly desirable.
• Certification in Research Management or Project Management is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Research Administration & Governance: Develop, review, and implement research policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ensure compliance with institutional, regulatory, ethical, and funding agency requirements.
• Research Grant Management: Identify and disseminate internal and external funding opportunities. Facilitate the preparation, submission, and administration of research grants.
• Research Performance Management: Monitor and analyse research performance indicators, including grants, publications, citations, and innovation outputs.
• Research Capacity Building: Organise research training, workshops, seminars, and professional development programmes.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with funding agencies, healthcare institutions, industry partners, and academic collaborators.
• Leadership & Department Management: Lead and supervise Research Officers and administrative staff within the department.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research Administration & Governance Develop, review, and implement research policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ensure compliance with institutional, regulatory, ethical, and funding agency requirements. Manage research records, databases, and documentation. Coordinate research ethics and governance processes.
2. Research Grant Management Identify and disseminate internal and external funding opportunities. Facilitate the preparation, submission, and administration of research grants. Monitor grant utilisation, project progress, and reporting requirements. Provide advisory support to researchers on grant-related matters.
3. Research Performance Management Monitor and analyse research performance indicators, including grants, publications, citations, and innovation outputs. Prepare institutional research reports, statistics, and dashboards for management and external stakeholders. Support strategic planning initiatives to enhance research productivity and impact.
4. Research Capacity Building Organise research training, workshops, seminars, and professional development programmes. Support academic staff and researchers in strengthening research competencies. Promote a culture of research excellence and continuous improvement.
5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Establish and maintain relationships with funding agencies, healthcare institutions, industry partners, and academic collaborators. Facilitate research partnerships, memoranda of understanding (MoUs), and collaborative projects. Represent the University in research-related meetings and engagements.
6. Leadership & Department Management Lead and supervise Research Officers and administrative staff within the department. Manage departmental budgets, resources, and operational plans. Ensure effective service delivery and achievement of departmental objectives. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Research Management Department.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in research management, research administration, higher education, healthcare, or related sectors.
• Experience in managing research grants, institutional research reporting, and research governance.
• Proven track record in stakeholder engagement and project management.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of research administration, governance, and ethics.
• Familiarity with national and international research funding mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills.
• Strong report writing and data interpretation abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and research management systems.
