Job summary

Avaland Berhad in Malaysia's Selangor region seeks a senior architectural professional to lead group-wide design standards and ensure compliance across projects. You will drive design reviews, mentor design managers, and review consultant proposals while translating lessons into preventive improvements.

This role emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and cost-effective design while coordinating with business units and managing multiple assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related built-environment discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience preferably in property development or architectural consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of architectural design, product development and design management.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Able to independently review consultant proposals and provide clear recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve group-wide design standards, guidelines, policies and best practices.
• Conduct design reviews, audits and compliance checks to ensure alignment with established design standards and requirements.
• Provide independent design and technical advice to Business Units and Design Managers, including analysis and recommendations on key design issues.
• Identify recurring design issues and translate lessons learnt into preventive measures and improvements for future projects.
• Lead research, benchmarking and R&D initiatives on product trends, materials, technologies and emerging design practices.
• Drive product innovation and design optimization to improve functionality, sustainability, buildability, maintainability and cost effectiveness.
• Develop design tools, checklists and knowledge resources and facilitate sharing of best practices across projects.
• Monitor industry and regulatory developments and recommend appropriate updates to design standards and practices.
• Prepare design studies, reports and recommendations for management.
• Support the Head of Design & Planning on strategic and group-wide design initiatives.
