Job summary

Avaland Berhad in Malaysia seeks a Senior Manager, Design & Planning (Landscape) to act as independent reviewer of landscape designs and to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements. You will develop and refine design standards, establish benchmarks for planning, detailing, materials and user experience, and drive consistency across projects.

You will provide technical input to BU teams, resolve design issues, evaluate consultants, and lead a landscape team to build

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture or related discipline.
• 8-10 years of relevant experience in landscape design.
• Experience in design review, governance or multi-project oversight is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of Malaysian Regulatory requirements and authority processes.

Responsibilities

• Act as independent reviewer of landscape design produced by BU-appointed consultants.
• Ensure design compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and approved design intent.
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve landscape design standards and guidelines.
• Establish clear design benchmarks covering planning, detailing, materials and user experience.
• Drive consistency across projects while allowing controlled flexibility based on product positioning.
• Provide expert technical input and guidance to BU Teams on landscape related matters.
• Support BU in resolving design issues, technical challenges and authority requirements.
• Advise on feasibility, buildability, and cost implications without assuming execution responsibility.
• Lead or participate in technical evaluation of landscape consultants.
• Review consultant capabilities, design approach, and past performance.
• Monitor consultant output quality through structured review mechanisms.
• Drive adoption if sustainable and climate resilient landscape strategies.
• Introduce new design approaches, materials and technologies aligned with company direction
• Lead & Develop landscape team within group design & planning.
• Built internal expertise in design review, audit and governance.
• Ensure landscape design solutions are aligned with cost benchmark and value objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture or related discipline.

Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in landscape design preferably with property development or consultancy.

Experience in design review, governance or multi-project oversight is an advantage.

Strong understanding of Malaysian Regulatory requirements and authority processes.
