IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a Maintenance Technician to join its Engineering team. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure reliability and production efficiency at the Bukit Minyak site.

The ideal candidate has 2-3 years in manufacturing maintenance, knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems, and experience with diagnostic tools. A strong team player committed to safety and continuous improvement is essential.

Qualifications

About the role IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Bukit Minyak, Penang, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our manufacturing equipment and facilities. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance activities that directly support our production operations and contribute to the company's operational excellence and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal operational performance
• Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic work to identify equipment faults and implement corrective measures
• Execute planned maintenance activities in accordance with established schedules and maintenance protocols
• Repair and replace worn or defective components, parts and equipment to minimise downtime
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation for all servicing and repairs carried out
• Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities and minimise disruption to operations
• Perform equipment inspections and assessments to identify potential issues before they escalated
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification or certification in mechanical or electrical maintenance, engineering technician diploma, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of equipment operation, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
• Proficiency in using maintenance tools, testing equipment and diagnostic instruments
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and maintenance manuals
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to health and safety practices and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Flexibility to work shift patterns if required by operational needs
• Preferred experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)
