Job summary

The Straits Hotel & Suites Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to uphold hotel facilities and systems for guest satisfaction and property integrity. You will respond to maintenance requests, perform preventative maintenance, and carry out basic repairs across rooms and public areas.

You will monitor major building systems, ensure safety compliance, and support on-call rotations. A background in hotel maintenance and HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work is preferred, with licenses valued.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in property maintenance, facility management, or related trade.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, and HVAC operations.
• Strong customer service skills with professional guest interaction.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and on-call nights.
• CPO, EPA Universal, or HVAC licenses are highly valued.

Responsibilities

Job description

This is a Maintenance Technician position responsible for maintaining hotel facilities and systems to ensure guest satisfaction and property integrity. You will respond to maintenance requests, execute preventative maintenance programs, perform facility repairs, monitor building systems, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests (e.g., plumbing leaks, TV/wi-fi connectivity issues, broken furniture, lighting replacements)

Execute the hotel's preventative maintenance program for guest rooms, hallways, and common areas, including checking HVAC filters, sealing grout, and testing safety systems

Perform basic repairs in drywall, painting, carpentry, tiling, and flooring to keep the property looking pristine

Assist in monitoring and maintaining major building systems including HVAC, electrical, commercial plumbing, boilers, and pool/spa systems

Ensure all repairs comply with local building codes, fire regulations, and safety standards. Routinely check fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and lighting

Maintain hotel exterior presentation, including minor landscaping, parking lot lighting repairs, and seasonal snow/debris removal

Keep maintenance workshops organized, clean, and stocked. Inform management when parts or tools need to be reordered

About you

2+ years of experience in property maintenance, facility management, or a related trade (hotel experience strongly preferred)

Basic to intermediate proficiency in plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, and HVAC operations

Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with hotel guests and team members

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call night shifts for emergencies

CPO (Certified Pool Operator), EPA Universal certification, or HVAC/electrical licenses are highly valued
