Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced M&E Project Engineer to oversee and coordinate all mechanical and electrical works across our development sites in Penang. You will review drawings, supervise installation, coordinate with civil, structural and architectural teams, and ensure compliance with standards and authority requirements including BOMBA, ST, SPAN and TNB.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, at least 5 years' experience in property

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, M&E Engineering, Building Services or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in property development or construction.
• Strong knowledge of M&E systems, construction methods, coordination, testing and commissioning.
• Experience supervising mid-to-large scale developments with M&E builds.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all M&E works to comply with drawings, specs, schedules, QAQC, safety, and project requirements.
• Supervise M&E installation and ensure compliance with designs, standards, and authority rules.
• Review and coordinate M&E drawings, shop drawings, technical submissions, specs, method statements and material submissions.
• Coordinate M&E with civil/structural/architectural to minimize clashes and delays.
• Monitor daily M&E site activities across electrical, mechanical, ACMV, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, ELV, and related systems.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and authorities on M&E matters.
• Identify and resolve M&E technical issues and site constraints.
• Ensure M&E works follow approvals, procedures and authority requirements.
• Prepare progress and technical reports for management.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspection, approvals, and handover.
• Maintain M&E documentation including drawings, inspection and testing records, approvals and as-built drawings.
• Review variation orders, technical proposals, and cost implications.
• Travel to project sites as required.

• Oversee and coordinate all Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, work schedules, QAQC requirements, safety standards, and other relevant project requirements.
• Supervise and monitor M&E installation works to ensure compliance with approved designs, construction standards, company policies, and statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Review and coordinate M&E drawings, shop drawings, technical submissions, specifications, method statements, and material submissions.
• Coordinate M&E works with civil, structural, architectural, and other building services to ensure proper integration and minimize clashes or delays.
• Monitor and supervise daily M&E site activities, including electrical, mechanical, ACMV, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, ELV, and other building services works.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant authorities on M&E design, technical, construction, and site matters.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve M&E technical issues, discrepancies, and site constraints raised by consultants, contractors, or project teams.
• Ensure all M&E works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, construction plans, procedures, work instructions, and applicable authority requirements.
• Monitor the progress, quality, workmanship, and sequence of M&E works to ensure timely completion within the approved project schedule and budget.
• Attend client, consultant, contractor, coordination, technical, and site meetings and follow up on M&E-related matters.
• Coordinate and monitor M&E testing, commissioning, inspection, authority approval, and handover activities.
• Monitor M&E contractors' performance, work progress, manpower, materials, and compliance with project requirements.
• Assist in reviewing and evaluating M&E-related variation orders, technical proposals, claims, and cost implications.
• Ensure proper documentation and records are maintained, including inspection reports, testing and commissioning records, approvals, as-built drawings, and other relevant M&E documentation.
• Prepare and submit regular M&E project progress reports, technical reports, and updates to Management.
• Ensure all M&E works comply with relevant statutory requirements, Malaysian Standards, UBBL, and requirements of relevant authorities such as BOMBA, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), SPAN, TNB, and other applicable authorities.
• Support the Project Manager in achieving project objectives relating to time, cost, quality, safety, and compliance.
• Any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, M&E Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the property development and/or construction industry, preferably with experience in building M&E works.
• Strong knowledge and experience in M&E systems, construction methodology, technical coordination, testing and commissioning, and authority liaison.
• Proven track record in supervising mid-to-large scale developments, including M&E construction supervision, testing, commissioning, and handover operations.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services, including electrical power, ACMV, plumbing and sanitary, fire protection, ELV, and other related systems.
• Good knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, authority requirements, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD. Knowledge of Revit, BIM, or Navisworks will be an added advantage.
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and coordinate M&E drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documents.
• Possess good communication, coordination, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently on-site and effectively manage multiple stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and authorities.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and coordinate M&E site teams and contractors.
• Willing to travel and work at project sites as required.
