Job summary

Tentacle Tech is seeking a seasoned Senior Analyst / Programmer to support and enhance a core insurance system (LifeAsia) for a client in the finance sector. This hands-on role focuses on resolving complex issues, improving performance, and delivering reliable, high-quality solutions within a structured SDLC.

The ideal candidate has 7–8 years of experience in application development, especially in Life insurance, and strong knowledge of AS400, COBOL, SQL, Oracle and Solaris.

Qualifications

• 7–8 years of experience in application development, ideally within the Life insurance domain.
• Degree in IT or a related field.
• Working knowledge of AS400, SMART/400, QUERY400, COBOL, Control Language, SQL development, and Robot technology.
• Familiarity with SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle database, and Solaris operating systems.
• Strong analytical ability, systems design experience, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• A collaborative team player who is onsite and a quick learner.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve application functionality errors within SLA timelines
• Analyse root causes and implement program changes, corrections, and enhancements
• Perform unit testing and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Implement fixes and enhancements in the production environment
• Prepare impact analyses for new business requirements and update user/functional manuals
• Guide users on system functionality and assist in optimising system usage
• Coordinate with infrastructure and DBA teams on system health checks, housekeeping, and performance monitoring

The Role

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Analyst / Programmer to support and enhance a core insurance system (LifeAsia) for a client in the finance sector. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on solving complex application issues, optimising system performance, and partnering closely with business users and technical teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions within a structured SDLC environment.
