Job summary

Private Advertiser in Penang seeks an experienced Legal Executive to provide proactive legal support on property development, real estate, construction, and trading activities.

You will draft and review contracts, tenancy agreements, and corporate documents, manage disputes, coordinate with external counsel, and stay updated on regulatory developments relevant to the business.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial laws.
• Contract law knowledge required.
• Litigation experience or bar training is an added advantage.
• Construction law knowledge is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal assistance and advice on property development, real estate, construction, and trading activities.
• Assist in drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal documents, contracts, tenancy agreements and correspondence.
• Support internal teams and coordinate with external solicitors or consultants on various legal matters.
• Assist in corporate matters such as joint ventures, acquisitions, and taxes arising from business operations.
• Attend to tribunals or small claims and help resolve legal disputes as assigned.
• Handle employment-related legal matters, including disciplinary issues and employee disputes.
• Manage trademark filing, registration, renewal, and monitoring of the trademark portfolio.

Job description

Providing proactive legal assistance and advice on property development, real estate, construction, and trading activities.

Assist in drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal documents, contracts, tenancy agreements and correspondence relating to operation matters.

Providing proactive legal assistance and advice on various legal issues such as commercial contracts, dispute resolution, government funding agreements, regulatory, and governance.

Ability to manage disputes, if any, relating to tenant's debt recovery, contractual claims, defects, negligence etc.

Support internal teams in other legal related matters including coordinating with external solicitors or consultants.

Assist in corporate related matters such as joint venture, acquisition, taxes arising from business operation.

Attend to tribunal or small claims, assist to resolve legal disputes, as assigned.

Provide legal guidance in handling employment-related legal matters including disciplinary issues, employee disputes.

Handle trademark filing, registration, renewal, and monitoring of trademark portfolio and ensure brand and intellectual property protection to the company.

Stay abreast and upkeep with the latest legal development in the business of property, construction, and real estate related fields.

Evaluate, build and maintain a good network with law firms and consultants.

Carry out any other job tasks / assignments as and when requested by Senior Management, Department Head or direct superior.

Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor Degree in Law.

At least 4 years of working experience in the related field is required

Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial laws, contract law is required.

Litigation experience or bar training is an added advantage.

Knowledge with construction law related areas law is an added advantage.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
