Qualifications

• LL.B. or equivalent recognised law degree.
• Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian contract and corporate law.
• Demonstrable experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and operational agreements.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

About the Role

The successful candidate is expected to provide broad legal support, with a particular focus on commercial and operational contracts, corporate matters, legal research, and day-to-day legal advisory work.

The role will involve working closely with the business, operations, compliance, finance, and other internal teams, providing practical legal advice and helping the business manage legal risks while supporting its day-to-day activities.

Requirements

LL.B. or equivalent recognised law degree.

Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).

Strong knowledge of Malaysian contract and corporate law.

Demonstrable experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and operational agreements.

Strong legal research and analytical skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial & Operational Contracts

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial and operational agreements.

Advise internal stakeholders on contractual terms, obligations, risks and remedies.

Identify contractual risks and propose practical solutions.

Develop and maintain contract templates, standard clauses, checklists and other legal tools.

2. Corporate & Governance

Provide legal support on general corporate and governance matters.

Coordinate with the company secretary on corporate secretarial and statutory matters.

Assist with preparation and review of board and shareholder resolutions, corporate documents and related materials.

3. Legal Research & Advisory

Conduct research on Malaysian laws, regulations and regulatory developments.

Analyse legal issues and prepare clear, practical advice for internal stakeholders.

Prepare internal notes and summaries of legal and regulatory developments.

4. Day-to-Day Legal Support

Provide timely legal advice on issues arising in the ordinary course of business.

Review business processes, proposed initiatives and operational arrangements from a legal and risk perspective.

Assist with disputes, claims, complaints, termination matters and other legal issues as they arise.

Liaise with external lawyers, regulators, company secretaries and other professional advisers where required.

Preferred Experience

Experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage:

Fintech, financial services, technology or other regulated businesses;

Banking and finance or financial services regulation;

Licensing and regulatory matters;

Experience with Singapore jurisdiction.
