Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a Legal Counsel in Johor Bahru to serve as a key advisor on legal and corporate compliance matters. The role covers strategic compliance, contract drafting and negotiation, data privacy, and legal operations.

Ideal candidates hold a Law degree, admission to the Bar, and at least 3 years PQE in corporate law or in-house settings. This is a on-site position based in Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) with admission to the Bar.
• Minimum 3 years PQE in corporate law or in-house legal role.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Compliance & Risk Management: Safeguard workflows by integrating local and cross-border standards into day-to-day activities.
• Commercial Contracting: Draft, review and negotiate supply chain, vendor and commercial agreements.
• Data Privacy & Corporate Governance: Manage local data protection compliance under PDPA and oversee corporate secretarial duties.
• Legal Operations & Enablement: Improve internal processes with contract management tech and develop practical legal training for business leads.

• Strategic Compliance & Risk Management: Safeguard operational and financial workflows by integrating local and cross-border trade, customs, and regulatory standards into day-to-day supply chain activities. Translate global corporate governance frameworks into localized, proactive risk prevention controls.

• Commercial Contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate complex supply chain, vendor, and commercial agreements, maintaining an optimal balance between protecting the business and driving fast-paced execution.

• Data Privacy & Corporate Governance: Manage local data protection compliance in line with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) alongside regional privacy leads, while directing ongoing corporate secretarial and statutory duties for local entities.

• Legal Operations & Enablement: Streamline internal legal processes through technology-enabled contract management systems, and develop practical legal training modules for business and operational leads
