TechBirds Consultancy Services Limited is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to guide the Java tech stack for our Point Of Sales solution. The role focuses on architecture, scalable delivery, and high‑quality web solutions aligned with business goals.
You will lead a talented team, own end‑to‑end delivery, drive CI/CD, and collaborate with security, compliance, testing, and vendors to resolve complex challenges while mentoring engineers for growth.

Key responsibilities
Provide senior technical leadership in the design, development, and delivery of web and mobile applications, contributing to architecture decisions and ensuring scalable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions.
Act as a strong problem solver, able to assess issues from multiple perspectives, challenge the status quo, and collaborate with specialist teams (e.g. security, compliance, testing, vendors) to resolve complex technical and delivery challenges.
Own and support end-to-end application delivery and BAU operations, including bug fixes, performance tuning, minor enhancements, incident resolution, and root cause analysis, with L3 support as required.
Govern and support CI/CD implementation and deployment processes across SIT, UAT, and Production environments, promoting automation, test-driven development, and reliable release practices.
Review and integrate third-party SDKs and tools (e.g. analytics, messaging, notification services) and ensure solutions align with architecture standards, security controls, and regulatory requirements.
Take accountability for identifying, escalating, and managing technical, delivery, security, and compliance risks, proposing practical workarounds and resolutions to minimize impact to project timelines and business outcomes.
Partner closely with testers, vendors, product, and domain teams to ensure completion of functional, non-functional, and security testing with agreed quality outcomes.
Mentor and guide engineers by reinforcing coding best practices, supporting professional development, and encouraging knowledge sharing across teams.
Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging threats, modern engineering practices, AI/GenAI technologies, and contribute ideas that improve delivery efficiency, quality, and business value.
About you
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant professional or technical certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in web application development using Agile and/or DevOps methodologies, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership or team‑leading role.
Strong proficiency in Java 17 and above, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring Reactive, and RESTful API design and development.
Experience working with event-driven architectures, including Kafka and message queue (MQ) technologies.
Conversant with SQL and database interactions.
Solid exposure to DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and deployment automation.
Experience with containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage.
Hands-on experience with automation and testing tools (e.g. Selenium, SOAPUI, Jenkins, Bamboo, Ansible, GitHub, Bitbucket).
Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
