Job summary

Maverick United Consulting Engineers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to head the mechanical design scope and deliver high-quality consultancy outputs for complex projects.

Based in Malaysia, the role requires 10–15 years of experience, strong HVAC and BIM skills, and the ability to coordinate with electrical, structural, and civil teams. You will drive design reviews, BIM coordination, and support from procurement to handover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of mechanical engineering design experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, pumping, piping.
• Experience in design development, technical reviews, multidisciplinary coordination.
• Proficient in BIM tools: Revit, Navisworks; familiar with ASHRAE/SMACNA/BS EN and local regs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical design scope ensuring timely deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership and oversee engineers, drafters, BIM resources.
• Coordinate interfaces with MEP, architectural, structural, and civil disciplines.

Job Duties

• Lead and manage the overall mechanical engineering design scope, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design and consultancy deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership and oversee the work of Mechanical Engineers, drafters, and BIM resources.
• Coordinate mechanical design interfaces with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, structural, and civil disciplines.
• Lead design reviews, constructability assessments, BIM coordination, and clash-resolution activities to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Support procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities, including reviewing technical submissions and equipment selections.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 to 15 years of Mechanical Engineering design experience, preferably within an engineering consultancy environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, pumping, piping, and associated mechanical systems.
• Proven experience in design development, technical reviews, multidisciplinary coordination, and leading engineering teams.
• Familiarity with BIM tools such as Revit and Navisworks, and working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, BS/EN standards, and local regulations.
