The Lead Mechanical Engineer will serve as the primary technical authority for mechanical
building services across major regional developments, with a primary focus on hyperscale data
centres, mission-critical infrastructure, and high-tech industrial facilities. You will lead the
design, calculations, system architecture, and technical delivery of complex Mechanical Dry
(ACMV/HVAC) and Mechanical Wet (Central Chilled Water) systems from concept through
construction administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the concept, schematic, and detailed engineering design of mission-critical mechanical systems, including high-density central chilled water plants, N+1/2N cooling topologies, thermal energy storage (TES), CRAC/CRAH systems, and air-handling infrastructure.
- Perform and review complex technical calculations, including building thermal/heat load calculations, hydraulic analysis, pump sizing, pressure drop calculations, and CFD airflow modeling oversight.
- Ensure full compliance with local regulatory requirements (UBBL, MS Standards) and international standards (ASHRAE TC 9.9, SMACNA, NFPA, FM Global).
- Interface directly with clients, architects, structural leads, and external stakeholders to drive integrated MEP design solutions and value engineering.
- Direct and mentor a team of junior/senior engineers and BIM modelers, ensuring design accuracy, quality assurance (QA/QC), and timely project milestone delivery.
- Author technical specifications, bill of quantities (BQ), design basis reports (DBR), and
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Experience: 10–15+ years of progressive engineering consultancy design experience, with a proven track record leading large-scale mechanical/HVAC design projects.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of central chilled water plant design, hydraulic distribution, process cooling, and ventilation controls. Prior experience with hyperscale data centres, semiconductor fabs, cleanrooms, or high-density industrial facilities is highly preferred.
- Certifications: BEM Registered Engineer (PEPC preferred). GBI Facilitator, LEED AP, or Certified Data Center Specialist (CDCS) accreditation is an added advantage.
- Software: Proficient in Carrier HAP/Trace 700, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and hydraulic
