MSR Green Energy Sdn. Bhd. seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer for power systems and electrical design across renewable energy projects.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer – Power Systems & Electrical Design with strong expertise in electrical engineering design, power systems, substations and grid interconnection, and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
The successful candidate will lead electrical engineering activities across MSR-GE’s RE projects and manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed engineering through procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.
Registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (“BEM”) as a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (“PEPC”) will be a significant advantage.
The role will be HQ-based with travel to project sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the electrical engineering design and review of renewable energy projects, substations and associated grid interconnection facilities
Lead the preparation and review of detailed engineering calculations, drawings and design documentation, including Single Line Diagrams, Load Lists / Schedules, Cable Schedules and Cable Drum Schedules, Schematic and Interconnection Diagrams, Equipment Layouts, Cable Routing and Trench / Tray Layouts, and Earthing and Lightning Protection System layouts
Prepare and review electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, technical requisitions and vendor drawings
Perform and / or review power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination and relay settings using ETAP or equivalent software
Lead and manage the electrical engineering team and allocate engineering work across projects
Supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to electrical engineers, designers and draughtspersons
Review engineering deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, quality and timely completion
Coordinate electrical engineering activities with Project Managers, consultants, contractors, vendors and site teams
Liaise with TNB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga and other relevant utilities, authorities and stakeholders on electrical and grid interconnection matters
Ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian regulations, utility requirements, IEC standards and other relevant local and international standards
Support procurement activities through technical evaluations, vendor clarifications and equipment reviews
Review method statements, testing procedures, commissioning procedures and other technical documentation
Support and oversee the installation, testing, energisation and commissioning of electrical systems
Witness FATs, SATs, protection testing and other equipment testing where required
Resolve electrical design, construction, testing and commissioning issues throughout the project lifecycle
Participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance and engineering solutions
Support project planning and ensure electrical engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules and requirements
Assist in resource planning and the allocation of engineering manpower across projects
Support the development and continuous improvement of MSR-GE’s engineering standards, procedures and design practices
Promote high standards of engineering quality, safety and technical compliance across all project activities
Where the successful candidate holds a valid Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (“PEPC”) registration, undertake relevant professional review, certification and endorsement duties where legally permissible and within the scope of his / her professional registration
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
A minimum of 12 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
Strong experience in detailed electrical engineering design, power systems, substations, grid interconnection, power generation, renewable energy or major EPCC projects
Strong knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems, protection, control and power distribution systems
Experience with high-voltage substations and transmission systems will be highly advantageous
Experience with utility‑scale solar PV, BESS, substations, power plants or TNB infrastructure will be highly advantageous
Strong knowledge of Malaysian electrical regulations, TNB requirements and applicable IEC and international standards
Demonstrable experience across electrical engineering design, construction, testing and commissioning
Experience in power system studies, including load flow, short circuit and protection coordination
Proficiency in ETAP or equivalent power system analysis software
Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to review detailed engineering drawings
Proven experience leading, supervising and mentoring electrical engineers and technical personnel
Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple engineering deliverables and project priorities simultaneously
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent MSR-GE effectively in technical discussions with clients, consultants, utilities, vendors and regulatory authorities
Registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (“BEM”) as a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (“PEPC”) will be a significant advantage
