MSR Green Energy Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – SCADA, EMS & Secondary Systems to join the HQ team with travel to sites as required.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer – SCADA, EMS & Secondary Systems with strong experience in secondary electrical systems, protection and control, SCADA, Energy Management Systems (“EMS”), communications and grid-connected power systems, and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
The successful candidate will support the Lead Electrical Engineer in the engineering, integration, testing and commissioning of secondary systems across MSR-GE’s renewable energy projects. The role will cover detailed engineering, system integration, testing, Grid Compliance Tests (“GCTs”) and commissioning activities for utility-scale solar PV, BESS, substations and other grid-connected projects.
The role will be HQ-based with travel to project sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the design and review of secondary electrical systems, protection and control systems, SCADA, EMS, PPC and associated communication networks
Prepare and review technical documentation, including protection and control schematics, interlocking and logic diagrams, signal and I/O lists, SCADA architecture, communication architecture, control philosophies and interface documents
Support the design, integration and implementation of SCADA, EMS, PPC, RTU, gateway, HMI and associated control and communication systems
Assist in the preparation and review of protection schemes, relay settings, interlocking and protection coordination
Coordinate interfaces between protection systems, SCADA, EMS, PPC, BESS control systems, inverter systems and utility systems
Support Grid Compliance Test planning, preparation and execution, including test procedures, test scripts, compliance matrices and technical reports
Participate in plant control and performance testing, including active power, reactive power, power factor, voltage and frequency response functions where applicable
Participate in FATs, SATs, protection testing, SCADA testing, EMS testing, point-to-point testing, integrated system testing and commissioning activities
Troubleshoot and resolve SCADA, EMS, protection, control, communication and interface issues during engineering, construction, testing and commissioning
Review vendor drawings, technical submissions, control philosophies, communication protocols and system configuration documents
Coordinate with Project Managers, consultants, contractors, OEMs, vendors, utilities and site teams on secondary systems and control-related matters
Support liaison with TNB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga and other relevant authorities and utilities on technical and grid connection requirements
Ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian regulations, utility requirements, project specifications, IEC standards and other relevant standards
Assist in the preparation, review and close-out of engineering and commissioning deliverables
Support project planning and ensure assigned engineering, testing and commissioning activities are completed in accordance with project schedules
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, technicians and site personnel where required
Support the continuous improvement of MSR-GE’s engineering standards, testing procedures and commissioning practices
Maintain high standards of engineering quality, safety, system reliability and technical compliance
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering or a related engineering discipline
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant engineering experience
Experience in secondary electrical systems, protection and control, SCADA, EMS, automation and grid-connected power systems
Experience in utility-scale solar PV, BESS, substations, power plants, transmission systems or major EPCC projects will be highly advantageous
Experience in the design, integration, testing or commissioning of SCADA and EMS systems
Familiarity with Grid Compliance Tests and grid connection requirements for utility-scale generation projects
Good knowledge of protection systems, relay logic, interlocking and protection coordination
Experience with PPC, BESS EMS, inverter control systems and utility interfaces will be an advantage
Good understanding of communication systems and protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP / RTU, DNP3 or equivalent
Experience with RTUs, gateways, PLCs, HMIs, network equipment and communication infrastructure
Experience with protection testing, SCADA point-to-point testing, integrated system testing and commissioning will be advantageous
Knowledge of Malaysian grid connection requirements, TNB requirements and applicable IEC and international standards
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with consultants, OEMs, vendors and project teams
Ability to work independently while taking technical direction from the Lead Electrical Engineer
Willingness to travel interstate and attend project sites as required
