Job summary

Jora Malaysia is hiring for a kitchen position in Ipoh, Malaysia, with working hours from Wednesday to Sunday, 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM (1 hour break). The role involves food prep, vegetable washing, meat portioning, and maintaining clean, organized storage and workspaces in a busy kitchen environment.

Applicants should be able to commute to Ipoh and work shifts as scheduled. This is a hands-on frontline kitchen role requiring basic culinary prep skills and attention to hygiene and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables (like onions, potatoes, and lettuce).
• Trimming fat off meats or portioning proteins according to specific weights.
• Mixing simple marinades, whisking batters, or assembling dry spice blends.
• Ensuring the kitchen have enough chopped ingredients, oils, and garnishes before opening.
• Sorting, loading, and running plates, glassware, and cutlery.
• Scrubbing heavy-duty items like cast iron skillets, large stockpots, and baking trays.
• Putting everything back in its exact designated storage spot.
• Cleaning stainless steel prep tables, cutting boards, and line equipments.
• Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors regularly throughout the shift to prevent slips and grease buildup.
• Emptying trash cans, recycling bins, and compost buckets, then replacing trash bags and taking waste to the outdoor dumpster.
• Performing scheduled heavy cleaning tasks, like ventilation hoods, or deep fryers.
• Carrying boxes of fresh produce, meat, and dry goods into the kitchen.
• Storing ingredients using the First In, First Out method.
• Keeping freezers, chillers, and dry storeroom neat and accessible.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Ipoh: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
