About the role

Crowd 99 Cafe is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Helper to join our team in Sandakan District, Sabah. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting our childcare and outside school hours care operations. As a Kitchen Helper, you will be instrumental in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment whilst ensuring that nutritious meals and snacks are prepared to the highest standards for the children in our care. This role is essential to our mission of providing quality care and nutrition to the young people we serve.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting in the preparation and cooking of meals and snacks in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional standards
• Maintaining impeccable kitchen hygiene and cleanliness standards, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Organising and storing food items appropriately to ensure proper inventory management and food safety compliance
• Supporting the preparation of ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring as directed
• Assisting in serving meals and snacks to children in a friendly and safe manner
• Monitoring expiration dates and reporting any spoiled or damaged food items
• Following all health and safety protocols and food handling procedures strictly
• Supporting the kitchen team in maintaining a well-stocked and organised kitchen environment
• Assisting with general kitchen maintenance and equipment upkeep

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working in a kitchen environment, preferably in a childcare, school, or food service setting
• A strong commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
• Basic knowledge of food safety and handling practices, or willingness to obtain relevant certifications
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and handle kitchen equipment safely
• A genuine passion for supporting children's wellbeing and nutrition
• Reliability and punctuality, with a willingness to follow instructions
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards colleagues and supervisors
• Relevant food safety certification or qualification is preferred but not essential
