Job summary

The Café at Royal Selangor Gallery in Kuala Lumpur is hiring a kitchen crew member. You will assist with food preparation and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas, reporting to the cafe manager in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include following approved recipes, performing cleaning duties, and handling kitchen tools and ingredients with care. English and Bahasa Malaysia communication are essential, with a pleasant, independent work attitude.

Qualifications

• SPM certificate or higher is required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar environment.
• Good communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Pleasant personality with good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, follow instructions and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation, production and serving according to recipes, guidelines and SOPs.
• Perform cleaning duties and keep kitchen and workstation clean and sanitized.
• Food preparation tasks: wash, chop, shred, and grate ingredients for use by the chef.
• Handle kitchen appliances and utensils responsibly and ensure good condition.
• Assist with other ad-hoc duties as requested by management.

Job description

As a kitchen crew member at The Café within the Royal Selangor Gallery at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad @ Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, you will assist with food preparation and maintain overall cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas. You will report to the cafe manager and be required to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

Responsible for all food preparation, production and serving arrangements in accordance with the approved recipes, guidelines and SOPs

Perform all necessary cleaning duties and ensure that kitchen and workstation are clean and properly sanitized at all times

Food preparation: washing, chopping, shredding, and grating ingredients for subsequent use by the chef

Handle food, kitchen appliances and utensils properly and ensure they are in good condition

Other ad‑hoc duties requested by the management

Requirements

Possess at least a SPM certificate, Professional Certificate and/or Diploma in any field

Minimum 1 year of working experience in a similar environment

Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia

Pleasant personality with good interpersonal skills

Ability to remain calm while multitasking, follow instructions, and work independently
